Looks and PB: Harvey isn’t an effeminate man (for lack of a better term) by nature, but he does take good care of himself to make himself look as young and attractive as possible, which he succeeds in. He's a typical man’s size, standing at a good 6’0”, and he does have some prominent musculature because he's a Dancer. He has brown eyes as well as brown hair. He's a fashionable guy, sometimes even getting a little too unusual with what he wears. He often wears earthy colors like darker greens and oranges, but he has no trouble putting on just about anything.
PB is Hifumi Minagawa from Cafe Kichijoji de (hair and eye color was changed from black... purple? to brown).
Personality: Cheerful and optimistic. A dramatic joker. He's actively social and loves making new friends, but unfortunately he tends to neglect his old friends because of that. Sometimes he'll unintentionally treat the people he feels closest to poorly, either by being forgetful or just downright bitchy. He's pretty open-minded, though, so he'll usually admit to his mistakes if they're called out. He enjoys helping others. Sometimes gets depressed or angry easily, but he bounces back very quickly from his bad moods.
Background: Harvey’s mother, a poor merchant girl working with her own parents in Comodo, gave birth to him when she had just barely gone through puberty--the typical ignorant teenage girl who fell hopelessly in love so easily, and was used just as easily by that man she loved, who made himself unknown immediately after a child was mentioned. Harvey’s mother, while she threw her love with older men around like a toy, had no trouble dedicating her life to her own child, and was quite loving and loyal to him. She gave him everything she could, although her own parents, his grandparents, never thought of him as being any more worth their respect than a bag of dirt because of the circumstances behind his birth. Still, they had little say in his upbringing, and he grew up as a cheerful and very active boy.
When Harvey was eight years old, his mother noticed how he was stimulated more than anything by the sights and sounds that Comodo’s large performing community had to offer, and also noticed his outgoing and flamboyant personality. Immediately she took him to the Performing Academy for an audition, thinking that it would not only be the best path for her son to take with his current interests, but also one that wouldn’t have to take him away from her and their home for his studies. Young Harvey was mostly interested in the singing and instrumental workings of the bards, but unfortunately those judging his school audition did not think his voice was anything special. However, the boy could dance, and at the time enjoyed it almost as much as singing. Therefore, he was allowed into the academy, under the condition that he would study as a dancer rather than a bard. Harvey was and still is bitter about this--he hasn’t grown to hate dancing, necessarily, but he never intended to base his entire life around it. Throughout his training at the academy, he could not shake his interest in instruments, and gladly took up practicing string instruments on his own time. He found the harp to be his favorite after awhile, because of its relaxing sound and ease of play (for him, anyway). He was given permission to use certain space and tools at the school, after hours, to do his practicing, and soon caught the attention of a teacher who saw his potential, and agreed to give him private tutoring in the little time they had to take out of their busy schedules. It was not very extensive teaching, but it did help him much farther along than he had already been and put him in a much better position to becoming a great musician through painstaking self-training.
Harvey was deemed as an acceptable dancing performer after four years at the academy, yet continued his normal studies in order to take advantage of what the school had to offer for a good environment to practice his harp. In the mean time, he performed within Comodo mostly as a dancer, much to his dismay, but sometimes with his harp. He officially graduated and left the academy for good three years later. Another three years later, he set out as a traveling performer, despite his mother’s heavy protests.
